Working in the Finance Team
The Finance Team is responsible for putting in place appropriate systems and processes to keep the business financially sustainable and legally compliant.
Key objectives of the finance team are focussed on delivering continuous improvement to drive business value as we gear for growth.
The finance team have derived objectives in respect of funding, people, systems, technology, outputs and engagement.

What will you be doing?
This is an exciting time to join Open Cosmos as we gear for substantial growth through 2025 and beyond. The Finance Manager, Porto, Portugal reports to the CFO and line manages the Finance Assistant, Porto, Portugal to support and facilitate the finance team operations locally in Portugal on behalf of Open Cosmos Group.
This is very much a hands-on operational role, working within a lean, value adding finance team. The role requires accuracy, timely delivery and communication and lots of enthusiasm!
You will be working with key stakeholders across the business including the CFO and finance team, outsourced finance advisors, accountants, auditors and payroll bureau, procurement team and mission managers, suppliers and customers, people team, C-suite, VP team, department heads, board and investors, all staff for ad hoc finance queries.
What you need to be successful:
- Successful track record operating as finance manager level+ within a small team
- Strong IT skills including working knowledge of NetSuit, Xero, tracking categories and integrated apps
- Excellent organisational and communication skills and ability to prioritise and deliver
- Strong knowledge of IFRS including revenue recognition, long term contracts and capitalisations
- Practical understanding of grant, IVA, corporation tax and payroll compliance and administration locally in Portugal
- Bonus if you are a Chartered Accountant with a demonstrably level of technical knowledge
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to the Open Cosmos values
- Comfortable taking on new challenges and learning new skills
