Inventory Coordinator
Working for Open Cosmos
Aim high, go beyond! At Open Cosmos we are solving the world’s biggest challenges from space, providing businesses, governments and researchers access to more readily available information than ever before - ready for the challenge? Then read on…
Working in the AIT Team
This team is the workshop for Open Cosmos satellite missions! We provide engineering support during the design phase then actually build and test the satellite - it doesn’t get much cooler than this!
What will you be doing?
You’ll be the go-to person for everything inventory-related, playing a key role in keeping our labs and workshops running smoothly.
You’ll manage incoming and outgoing components, tools and consumables, maintaining accurate records and optimising stock levels to avoid shortages or overordering.
You’ll coordinate closely with the AIT, procurement, and quality teams to ensure equipment is where it needs to be, when it needs to be there – and that everything meets our quality standards.
You'll also take charge of lab organisation: maintaining a clean, safe and well-equipped environment, managing calibration schedules, and helping engineers locate what they need to get the job done.
And as we grow, you’ll help shape and improve our procedures across multiple locations, ensuring consistency and compliance with industry best practices.
What you need to be successful
- You’re confident managing stock and logistics in a technical environment – maybe you’ve worked in a lab, R&D workshop, or electronics production setting.
- You’re detail-oriented and methodical, with experience using inventory systems or ERPs.
- You’re proactive and self-starting – if something needs improving or fixing, you take the initiative.
- You’re comfortable working across teams and disciplines, and happy supporting both engineers and technicians.
- You’re naturally organised, and you keep both your workspace and your digital files tidy and well-labelled.
- You’re safety-conscious and take pride in maintaining a clean and functional environment.
- You’re not above the small tasks – you know that even unpacking a shipment or labelling tools properly is key to the bigger mission.
The type of person we’re looking for:
- Autonomous – You can take ownership of tasks, break down challenges, and seek out missing info.
- Organised – Your environment (physical and digital) is clean, structured, and easy to navigate.
- Proactive – You don’t wait to be told – you spot problems and take action.
- Curious – You’re open to new ideas and enjoy improving how things are done.
- Humble and honest – You communicate clearly and openly, and celebrate team wins over individual ego.
- Efficient and effective – You get things done well and without wasting time or resources.
- Committed – You’re all-in on helping us build something amazing together.
